The Weekly Workflow — Twenty Minutes, Every Week

6 min read · 3 graded checkpoints

The routine

Same day, same time, twenty minutes: (1) run the rotation query (lesson 3) — where is momentum concentrating this week? One line in your notes. (2) run your composite (lesson 4) — any new names in the top decile vs last week? (3) run the exposure screen (lesson 7) — did your book's duration profile shift? Then: any new candidate gets the layer-2 veto (Track A lenses) before it earns attention; any book change gets one written line. Twenty minutes, three queries, one veto pass, a couple of sentences — the entire discipline, scheduled.

Why the notebook matters more than the queries

The queries are mechanical; the compounding is in the log. A dated line per week — "momentum rotating into energy; composite top-10 unchanged; book duration unchanged" — becomes, within a year, a personal dataset of how your process reads regimes. That is what you review when a decision goes wrong: not the outcome, the process trail. Every serious practitioner's notebook converges on this shape, whatever their asset class.

The certification

You have now seen the full stack: SQL to express questions, accounting lenses to veto, valuation to price, macro to schedule. The exam below certifies the SQL track; the badge appears on your guide page and in the screener's header. The honest framing of what certification means: not mastery — fluency. You can now sit down with any tabular financial dataset on earth and ask it precise questions. That skill, compounded weekly, is the entire difference between reading markets and watching them.

Case study

One year of the log

Twelve months of a real weekly log shows the pattern: 80% of weeks, the line is "no change" — and those lines are the product. The five weeks with changes are where the process earned: the rotation shift flagged in February, the duration alert in March, the new composite entry in August that survived the veto and became the year's best position. Process value concentrates exactly where discipline is rarest — which is why it must be scheduled, not inspired.

What you'll practise

The weekly routine's most valuable component is…

3 graded checkpoints · certification exam at the end of the track
